Soul Retrieval: What It Is and How It Heals What Nothing Else Can Reach
You function. You show up. You answer people, pay bills, even laugh at the right moments. But when you talk about your life it feels like you are standing a few feet away from it. You know you should feel more. You used to feel more. And somewhere along the way you stopped expecting to get back to that.
That is soul loss. And it is something I see regularly in the field and know how to work with directly.
If you are ready for this level of work, a Deep Healing session is where soul retrieval happens.
What Soul Loss Actually Is
Soul loss is what happens when an experience is too much for your system to integrate and a part of you withdraws to survive it. Not as a metaphor. As a real phenomenon that I see in the energy field and that has consistent recognizable effects on the people who experience it.
It happens in moments of significant trauma, overwhelming loss, severe shock, sustained abuse, or any experience in which you could not remain whole and present. It is a survival mechanism. The part of you that could not bear what was happening withdrew to protect itself.
The problem is that what withdrew did not come back when the overwhelming experience ended. It remains split off, held in a kind of suspension outside the ordinary flow of your life. And you continue living without that part of yourself, often for years or decades, carrying a sense of incompleteness you cannot fully explain.
What I See in Your Field When Soul Loss Is Present
This is what makes soul loss different from everything else I work with. With trauma I feel charge, bracing, congestion, heat, pressure, collapse. With soul loss I feel absence.
A gap. A dimness. A place where you are under-occupied in your own body. A strange flatness where there should be life.
When I read your field the structure itself is often fairly intact. That is actually what makes it so noticeable. The field is there. But you are not fully inside it. Most of your presence is in your head, throat, and shoulders. From the diaphragm down your presence gets thin. The low belly feels under-occupied. Behind the solar plexus there is a hollowed-out space, as if something stepped back and never fully returned. At the back of your heart there is a quiet ache, but even more than grief there is absence.
And off to one side, just outside your body line, there is often a faint but clear sense of part of you still standing somewhere else in time. Not a heavy blockage. More like you learned how to keep going while leaving one room of the house unoccupied.
When I describe this you often get very still. Because what I am describing is exactly how you have felt for years and you have never had a word for it.
Michelle came to me saying she felt flat. She was functioning completely. She worked, showed up, answered people, even laughed at the right moments. But when she talked about her life she was narrating it from a distance. She said: I do what I need to do. I am okay. I just do not feel much. I used to have more spark. I have never really come back from that time. When I read her field what I found was not chaos or congestion. It was exactly what she was describing. Her field was intact. But she was not fully inside it. She was standing slightly outside her own life. We did soul retrieval work in that session. Several weeks later she told me she felt like she was actually living her life rather than watching it happen.
What Soul Loss Feels Like From the Inside
You function but you are not really in it. You know you should feel more but you do not. You used to have more spark and you cannot find your way back to it. Joy is accessible but it does not land the way it used to. You feel older than your age. You have difficulty knowing what you actually want, not in a confused way but in a distant way, like the signal is coming from somewhere far off. There is a quiet loneliness even when you are around people you love. Life is happening but you are not fully inside it.
And the phrase that signals it most clearly: I have never really come back from that.
Not I am still struggling with what happened. Not it still hurts. But I have never come back. The sense of a clear before and after in your sense of aliveness is almost always pointing to soul fragmentation. Because part of you did not come back. And you have felt that absence ever since even when you could not name it.
How Soul Retrieval Actually Works in a Session
Soul retrieval is part of the shamanic work I do in Deep Healing sessions. It is not a standardized protocol applied the same way to every person. It follows what is present in your specific field and what emerges in the session.
I identify whether soul loss is present, what the nature of the fragmentation is, and what event or period generated it. I can see in your field where the soul fragment went, what it is carrying, and what it needs in order to return.
I then share this with you. And this part matters more than most people expect. Understanding what happened and why a part of you left is itself significant. You may have lived with the felt sense of soul loss for years without ever having a framework for what it was. Having it named, having someone see it clearly and describe it back to you, changes your relationship to it. The absence that felt like a personal failing or a permanent condition becomes something that happened, something with a reason, something that can be addressed.
The retrieval itself involves making contact with the soul fragment, understanding what it needs to be welcomed back, and doing the work to integrate it into the whole. This is collaborative. Your willingness to receive what returns, your readiness to welcome back the part of yourself that left, is part of what makes the retrieval complete.
To understand what energy healing actually is and how it works across all these layers, that post gives you the full picture before you decide.
What Changes After Soul Retrieval
The specific quality that was lost begins to return. Whether that is joy, trust, creativity, passion, or simply the sense of being fully present in your own experience. Not all at once and not perfectly immediately. But noticeably. Like a light coming back on in a room that had been dark for a long time.
You feel more present in your own life. The sense of watching from behind glass lifts. You are more here. Emotions that were previously inaccessible become available again. The numbness begins to resolve.
Your relationship to the event or period that generated the soul loss changes. It does not become painless but it becomes more integrated. The past stops feeling as present and as controlling. What happened becomes something that happened rather than something that is still happening. That distinction, small as it sounds, changes everything about how you move through your daily life.
And often a physical shift follows. Soul loss affects the body as well as the energy field. You may notice improved energy, better sleep, and a reduction in physical symptoms that were connected to the loss.
The most common thing people say after soul retrieval is some version of this. I feel like myself again. Not a new version. The version that was there before something happened and did not come back. That version was not gone. It was waiting.
Who Soul Retrieval Is Most Relevant For
Soul retrieval is most relevant for you if you recognize yourself in any of these three descriptions.
You have experienced significant trauma, loss, or overwhelming experience and carry a persistent sense of incompleteness, disconnection, or lost vitality that has not responded to other approaches. You have tried things. Some of it helped. And something fundamental is still missing.
You describe a clear before and after in your sense of aliveness. Something happened and you have not been fully yourself since. You remember what it felt like to be more present, more alive, more yourself. And you have not been able to get back there no matter what you have tried.
You have done significant healing work and made real progress but still feel that something essential is not fully present. When everything else has been addressed and something is still missing, soul loss is often what is being pointed to. Not because the other work was wrong. Because it addressed everything except the layer where the fragmentation actually lives.
If you recognize yourself here and you are ready to work at this level, schedule a Deep Healing session.
A part of you has been waiting to come home. It can come home now.
