They have real training and experience. Intuitive ability is real and some people are born with significant natural gifts. Red flags to watch for
They tell you only what you want to hear. If every reading is positive, every path is clear, and every concern you raise is minimized, the reader is performing rather than reading.
They use fear to create dependency. Telling you that you have a curse, that someone has sent negative energy at you, or that something terrible will happen unless you purchase additional sessions is a manipulation tactic, not genuine guidance.
They are vague and general. Statements like you have experienced loss or you are searching for your purpose or someone close to you is concerned about you could apply to almost anyone. Specificity is the hallmark of genuine accuracy.
They claim certainty about the future. The future is shaped by choices and free will. No reader can tell you with certainty what will happen. Anyone who claims otherwise is not being honest.
They have no real training or client history. Ask about their background. How long have they been doing this work. How many sessions have they done. What training do they have. A genuine practitioner will answer these questions directly and honestly.
They make you feel worse rather than clearer. A genuine reading may include challenging information but it should leave you feeling more clear and more empowered than when you arrived. If you leave a reading feeling more confused, more frightened, or more dependent than when you walked in, something went wrong.
Questions to ask before booking a reading
These questions will help you quickly assess whether a reader is genuine.
What training do you have and how long have you been practicing? A genuine practitioner will answer this directly and specifically.
What happens in a session? Can you describe what a reading with you looks like? A genuine reader can describe their process clearly. Vague or evasive answers are a signal.
What can a reading tell me and what can it not tell me? A genuine reader is honest about the limits of what a reading can do. Anyone who claims to be able to tell you everything with certainty is not being honest.
How do you receive information? Do you work through clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, or a combination? A trained reader can tell you specifically how they work.
What is your background in this field? Genuine practitioners have a story about how they came to this work and what shaped their approach. That story is worth hearing.
What to look for in a reading itself
Even with a reader you have not worked with before, the quality of the reading becomes clear quickly.
A genuine reading gets specific early. Within the first few minutes you should be hearing information that applies to your particular situation rather than generalities.
A genuine reading often surfaces things you have not shared. If the reader is accurately describing patterns, emotions, or situations that you have not mentioned, that is the signal of genuine access to your field.
A genuine reading leaves you feeling clearer. Not necessarily comfortable. Sometimes clarity is uncomfortable. But clearer. You should understand something about your situation after a reading that you did not understand before.
A genuine reading gives you something to work with. Not a dependency on the next reading but a direction, an understanding, an insight that you can carry forward and act on.
