Difference between intuitive readings and fortune telling, why they are not the same thing
I am often asked: what is the difference between an intuitive reading and fortune telling?
Both fall under a “psychic reading” umbrella, both provide information from the spirit realm, however this is where the similarity ends.
The biggest difference between fortune telling and intuitive readings has to do with the type and application of the information received.
Fortune telling will tell you a future possibility that is based on your current situation, behavior and thought pattrns. Although frequently accurate, it is never one hundred percent set in stone because each of us has free will. Change your patterns and your future will change.
An intuitive reading will help you to learn about yourself, your situation, your patterns and your karmic energy so that you can understand what is happening to you, decide what you truly want and alter your life path accordingly. It is an amazing way to learn about yourself and to become an empowered being.
In a fortune telling session you are a victim of circumstance.
In an intuitive reading you become the master of your destiny.
Lets say you are looking for a new job. A fortune teller may tell you when (if ever) you will get the job of your dreams. An intuitive reader, on the other hand, will not focus so much on the when but on the what and the how. She will tell you what you need to do and how you need to act or think so that you can manifest the job of your dream.
Similarly, a fortune teller may tell you when you may meet that special someone. An intuitive reader may tell you what to grow or heal within yourself and how to do it so that you may attract a partner worthy of you.
Some people prefer receiving fortune telling over intuitive readings because they are not in a place in their lives where they want to make a change. They just want to know what is likely to happen so that they can adjust their expectations. There is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes simply knowing what tomorrow may bring is all a person can handle at this time.
Personally, I prefer intuitive readings because I do not believe that we have to be victims of circumstance. My personality is such is that if I go down, it will be with kicking, screaming, scratching, biting and swearing. Although I understand that there are things that are simply meant to be, I am not one to just sit and let fate take over. I believe that knowing yourself, your emotions, your motivations and your intentions is much more powerful than simply knowing that is going to happen. My feeling is that the more knowledge I have, the more I can impact my destiny.
When performing psychic readings, I generally avoid foretelling the future. Yes, Spirit often shows what is going to happen, which I do communicate to my clients. However, I do it in a way that will help them understand why this is happening, what is causing it to happen and what they can do to either speed things up or change direction completely.
